Mystics, Nudists, Artists, Writers, Hermits

The Oceano dunes found in California are fed by the nearby creeks and rivers, that deposit sand on the beaches. There the sand is driven by the wind to become the building blocks of the dunes. Dreamers, campers, mystics, nudists, artists, writers and hermits, drawn to the unique landscape, began in the 1930’s to build communities with in the sand, finding solace in the natural environment. I can only imagine the impermanence of the shifting sands was something that proved as a poetic guide to their lives. Spending time in this space I found impressive the clear wind blown air and the shifting skies.
